People made very creative dishes with the pork. Last year everyone was amazed at the amount of food. This year, we’ll have the chef from Flight Deck Bar & Grill as a judge and Jeremy Hicks of Hicks BBQ will be a judge as well. After all of our expenses, we raised around $6,000, which was great. “We had well over 100 people and Fat Cat Slots was packed inside and out. 'Last year's event was very well-attended,” RTHSEF Board Vice President Angela Seldal said. The organization has held various iterations of fundraisers over the years. This is the RTHSEF’s second year putting on the smoker competition event as its fundraiser. Rochelle Foods has donated over 200 pounds of pork that will be smoked and made into various dishes by cooks that are participating in the event, which will also feature a musical performance by local band The Vodka Boys and a raffle. the Rochelle Township High School Education Foundation will be hosting a Boos, Brews & BBQ smoker competition fundraiser event at Fat Cat Slots at 229 Powers Road in Hillcrest.
